Rock Musician Faces Texas Child Abuse Accusations
Former Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn is facing Texas child abuse accusations from his ex-wife. Marina Ginn filed an Emergency Motion to Modify the Parent-Child Relationship in Williamson County District Court this past October. Ms. Ginn cited her concerns about her ex-husband’s escalating drug use, erratic behavior and violent outbursts. In her affidavit, she alleges that her ex-husband lives in an environment unsuitable for their daughters, ten-year-old Karis and seven-year-old Isadora.
Texas Child Abuse Complaint Mentions Threats, Malnutrition
In her Texas child abuse complaint, Marina Ginn alleges that her ex-husband has placed the young girls on a strict diet, commented about their weight and threatened not to feed them. He affidavit states that Mr. Ginn has often prohibited the girls from eating breakfast, even after they spend hours cleaning his band’s rehearsal space. Instead, he allegedly feeds them lettuce and vinegar or spicy soups, both of which upset their digestive systems and cause them to vomit.
Texas Child Abuse Affidavit Cites Drug Abuse, Erratic Behavior
Ms. Ginn also cites her ex-husband’s increasing drug use in her Texas child abuse affidavit. Her complaint also includes reports from her children on how Mr. Ginn has abused alcohol, marijuana, and other unnamed drugs in front of them on a daily basis. She also says that the girls have told her about how Mr. Ginn makes inappropriate comments, such as “You’re hot” and wolf-whistles, at them. The Texas child abuse affidavit also states that Mr. Ginn has threatened to withhold food from the girls if they don’t lose weight.
Violent Altercations Spark Texas Child Abuse Complaint
Although Ms. Ginn’s Texas child abuse complaint does not mention Mr. Ginn engaging in any physical abuse of his daughters, her affidavit does mention violent incidents with her ex-husband’s former business partners. The affidavit states that Mr. Ginn locked the girls in a small room, where they heard a fight occur between Mr. Ginn and his previous associates. Ms. Ginn also cites complaints from her daughters about Mr. Ginn’s verbal abuse, such as telling the girls to “shut the f*** up” and that he will “break them” of their will to express their feelings.
Former Bandmate Backs Texas Child Abuse Allegations
Ron Reyes, a former bandmate of Mr. Ginn’s from their Black Flag days, has also submitted an affidavit that backs up Ms. Ginn’s Texas child abuse allegations. In his affidavit, Mr. Reyes says that Mr. Ginn would work late nights in the studio, often drinking wine or smoking marijuana, while leaving the girls in a hallway with no supervision. He described his bandmate’s drug addiction as “severe” and that the girls “deserve far better parenting, care and guidance” than Mr. Ginn can provide.
