I recently received a letter from Discover Card offering me a special incentive on my account. Notice that this was a letter inviting me to call them. Upon doing so, one of the first questions they asked was regarding the phone number they had on file for me. Indeed, it was my cell phone. After I confirmed that, the next question was asking consent to use an automatic dialer to reach me. Of course, I declined, but I was happy to see that some corporations out there take the Telephone Consumer Protection Act seriously-even if it took a lawsuit to get them to change!
