Driver Dies When Vehicle Jumps Fort Worth Overpass
An unnamed man traveling westbound on Northeast Loop 820 in Fort Worth died Sunday morning when his car fell off the overpass around 3 a.m., police say. The Fort Worth overpass fatality victim, whose name has not been released by officials, was reported to have taken the curve too quickly, according to witness statements, which likely caused the vehicle to lose control and accelerate off of the curve. Once rescue crews arrived they attempted to save the driver who was trapped in the wreckage but they were not able to do so. He died at the scene. According to the report, the driver was alone in the vehicle, which flipped over the median after falling from the overpass, landing in the street between Blue Mound Road and Main Street. There is no word yet on any involvement of drugs or alcohol and police are currently seeking more information in the cause of the accident. Speeding in excess of posted limits is illegal, and the negligence that a driver performs when doing so can lead to fatal consequences in their own life and in the lives of others. Motorists who share Texas roadways with negligent drivers are put at an unnecessary risk to their wellbeing and personal property.
